Macro 2021: Questions on Sustainability

Humanity continues to grapple with the complex problem of how to secure the economic, environmental and social (ESG) wellbeing for future generations, and Africa is no exception. The continent has some important opportunities, and will have to confront many challenges as the world transitions to a more sustainable future.

Can political and social stability hold, against the backdrop of sharply rising populations and widening economic inequalities? What does the ESG focus on financing mean for Africa’s development, as carbon becomes increasingly difficult to finance? What are the viable paths to fiscal and debt sustainability for indebted African countries?
