Absa Africa Financial Markets Index 2026 Launch

Join us for the launch of the 10th edition of the Absa Africa Financial Markets Index (AFMI) 2026, marking 10 years of tracking the development and evolution of financial markets across Africa. This year's report explores key developments shaping Africa's financial landscape, including the diversification of financial products, the adoption of environmental, social and governance (ESG) frameworks, advances in digital innovation, and efforts to strengthen legal and regulatory systems.

Over the past decade, AFMI has become a leading benchmark for assessing financial market development across 29 African countries, measuring progress in market accessibility, openness and transparency. Developed in partnership with the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF) and supported by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the Index provides valuable insights into the opportunities, strengths and areas for development across Africa's financial markets.
