She began her career in HSBC where she specialized in International Trade Finance and completed several assignments in Europe, before moving into Client Coverage with RBS and subsequently BNP Paribas. In 2010, Denise joined the Barclays Multi-National Coverage team in London to focus exclusively on the successful development of global relationships with FTSE100 clients. This led to an opportunity to join the growing Barclays operation in Johannesburg, latterly heading up the Global Client Coverage team in South Africa. Following the separation of Barclays Africa, Denise returned to the UK in 2018 to establish and lead the International Client Coverage Function for UK & Europe for Absa. Denise holds a BSc in Banking and Finance (UMIST) and is an Associate of the Institute of Financial Services.
