Co-Head of Banking Africa

Craig is Co- Head of Banking responsible for M&A and Capital Markets across Africa.  He has over 20 years experience in cross border M&A and ECM / Capital Markets across sectors with a particular focus on Natural Resources.  Previously, he was the Head of Mining Investment Banking and prior to that, Head of M&A and Corporate Finance for Barclays Africa. Craig holds a B.Com, post-graduate LLB, H.Dip Company Law (University of Witwatersrand) and an MBA from the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business. Craig is a qualified attorney of the High Court of South Africa and a JSE approved sponsor executive.

Shirley Webber

Managing Principal, Coverage Head: Resources and Energy

Shirley Webber is the Managing Principal, Coverage Head Resources & Energy. She was previously the Sector Director of Mining, Resources and Commodities at FirstRand Bank. Shirley joined Absa in 2011 and her responsibilities include maintaining and growing relationships in the mining, metals, oil, gas and chemical industries. She has a wealth of experience working with key clients such as Anglo American, ArcelorMittal, Glencore, Petra Diamonds, First Quantum Minerals and Sasol. She also lectures part-time to banking students at universities and colleges in South Africa.

Shirley will be on an investor panel discussion during the conference under the topic “ESG Investing – Emerging From The Pandemic Into a Better World?” on Monday, 9 May 2022 at 17:00 CET.

Tawanda Madondo

Principal: Resources and Energy

Tawanda has been with Absa for the last 10 years, of which the past 7 years he has been with the Natural Resources Team. He is currently a Senior Coverage Banker for the Natural Resources team whose responsibility include maintaining and growing relationships in the mining industry.  Tawanda works with a diverse set of clients including some of the biggest Corporates in South Africa and Africa. He has a B.Acc degree from the University of Witwatersand and is also a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Tawanda will be on an investor panel discussion under the topic “Managing ESG risks in the African context: embedding rigour, data and transparency for successful resources growth” on Wednesday, 11 May 2022 at 11:45 CET.

Kay is an investment banking professional with over 15 years of experience in Corporate Finance, focusing on Mergers and Acquisitions (“M&A”) and Equity Capital Markets (“ECM”) for South African and African companies across different sectors. She has considerable industry knowledge across the mining and financial services sectors.

Head: Resource & Project Finance

Theuns is a qualified Chartered Accountant and heads up Absa’s Resource & Project Finance business, which includes advisory, debt arranging, underwriting and direct lending to clients in the mining, oil & gas, power, infrastructure and industrial sectors across the entire African continent.

Theuns joined the bank in 1998 and is regarded as one of the most experienced project finance dealmakers in the African market, with over 20 years specific experience in Africa across multiple industry sectors. In the mining sector, Theuns has lead the financing of greenfields and brownfields developments in the gold, platinum, copper, manganese, iron ore, ferrochrome, coal and diamond sectors.
