IHS Conference 2026

Structuring What Is Built

Supporting affordable housing growth across East Africa. Affordable housing is about more than delivering homes. It is about creating access to stability, opportunity and long-term economic participation for individuals, families and communities.

The 2nd International Housing Solutions (IHS) Kenya Affordable Housing Conference is scheduled to take place on June 11, 2026. The key event is being held in Nairobi, marking a major gathering for the region's affordable housing sector.

Affordable housing is about more than buildings, it is about enabling stability, expanding opportunity, and driving long-term economic participation.

As demand for quality housing continues to rise across East Africa, delivering at scale requires more than intent. It requires sustained commitment, well-structured capital, and strong partnerships across the full housing value chain.

Building on a successful first year, Absa Corporate and Investment Banking is proud to continue its partnership with International Housing Solutions (IHS) Kenya in supporting the IHS Kenya Affordable Housing Conference in Nairobi - convening investors, developers, and industry leaders to engage on practical pathways to sustainable delivery.

Today’s discussions reflect the breadth and complexity of the opportunity : from macroeconomic conditions shaping investment decisions, to the institutionalisation of rental and student housing, the evolution of mortgage markets, and the role of technology, sustainability, and legal frameworks in unlocking scalable delivery.

Absa Corporate and Investment Banking is also contributing directly to these conversations - from sharing economic insights to moderating critical dialogues on the mortgage journey and access to housing finance, where unlocking end-user affordability remains central to sustainable market growth.

Our continued involvement reflects a deliberate commitment to the sector - supporting the mobilisation of institutional capital, enabling scalable development models, and advancing solutions that move affordable housing from concept to reality.

Through platforms such as this, we continue to strengthen collaboration across the ecosystem and support the expansion of quality housing in a way that contributes to inclusive and resilient urban growth across East Africa.

IHS Kenya Affordable Housing Conference

As East Africa's urban populations continue to grow, so too does the need for sustainable, quality housing. Meeting this demand requires more than capital alone. It calls for innovative funding structures, strategic partnerships and deep sector expertise that can help unlock development at scale.

At Absa Corporate and Investment Banking, we understand the role finance plays in enabling progress. Through our Real Estate Finance capabilities, we work alongside developers, investors and industry stakeholders to support projects that contribute to sustainable urban growth and broader economic development across the region. In partnership with International Housing Solutions (IHS) Kenya, we are proud to support the IHS Kenya Affordable Housing Conference, a platform that brings together leaders from across the housing ecosystem to explore practical solutions, share insights and advance the future of affordable housing in East Africa.

The conference provides an important opportunity to engage on the investment models, policy frameworks and development strategies that can help expand access to quality housing while supporting resilient, inclusive cities.
