South Africa’s logistics system plays an important role in enabling trade and the movement of goods. As the owner and operator of significant rail, port and pipeline infrastructure, Transnet continues to focus on operational recovery and network priorities.

Transnet SOC Ltd was granted a government guaranteed facility to support working capital requirements and liquidity management. For Transnet, this provides additional headroom to manage near-term obligations while maintaining focus on network maintenance, rehabilitation and operational recovery.

Absa participated through a Money Market Loan and a Guarantee facility top-up through its Trade and Working Capital capability. This participation reflects Absa’s role in providing capital support aligned to the client’s working capital needs and the broader importance of resilient transport and logistics infrastructure.
