Absa Group Sponsors B20 South Africa 2025 to Elevate Africa’s Voice in Global Economic Policy

B20 South Africa 2025

Absa Group has joined B20 South Africa 2025 as a Diamond Sponsor

Underscoring our commitment to promoting inclusive and sustainable growth across Africa. Our extensive Pan-African presence and deep market expertise position us as a key facilitator in translating B20 policy recommendations into concrete actions and investment inflows across the continent. With key interests in shaping economic policy and fostering regional integration, Absa is working alongside the private sector to harness their voices and diverse perspectives, so that they too become central to shaping global economic development.

For the first time in history, the G20 is hosted on the African continent – marking a pivotal opportunity to position Africa as a vital contributor to international economic governance. South Africa’s presidency of the G20, which began on 1 December 2024, focuses on the theme "Inclusive Growth and Prosperity through Global Cooperation".

The B20 South Africa – which serves as the official G20 dialogue forum with the global business community – further provides a platform for businesses to engage with global leaders and co-develop recommendations on trade, investment, and inclusive growth.

Absa’s involvement ensures that the perspectives of African businesses are not only represented but actively shape the agenda at the highest levels of global economic decision-making.

Over the past year, we’ve focused on embedding our purpose – “Empowering Africa’s tomorrow, together, one story at a time” – into the heart of our strategy, culture, and brand. The B20 South Africa partnership aligns with our shared vision for growth and positive impact across the African continent.

Throughout the year, we will be actively involved in various B20 initiatives, engaging in policy discussions and formulation, and contributing to the development of recommendations through specialised task forces, particularly in areas central to Africa’s development: sustainable finance, food security, infrastructure, energy transitions, and digital transformation.

As we embark on this exciting journey with B20 South Africa, we look forward to showcasing African excellence and playing a vital role in reshaping Africa's economic narrative.
