Absa supports V&A Waterfront’s sustainable growth ambitions

Absa Corporate and Investment Banking has supported the V&A Waterfront’s next phase of development through a R2.25 billion syndicated financing facility.

The V&A Waterfront is jointly owned by Growthpoint Properties and the Government Employees Pension Fund, and is one of our continent’s most significant mixed-use destinations.

As part of the transaction, Absa acted as Sole Sustainability Coordinator and provided R1.175 billion in funding support. The financing is aligned to the V&A Waterfront’s Sustainable Neighbourhood Framework and will support developments that advance environmental sustainability, resource efficiency and inclusive economic growth.

Absa’s sustainable finance expertise helped translate the client’s long-term sustainability strategy into a credible funding framework that attracted support from local lenders.
